I was tempted to try a KDE distro. I tried Kubuntu and ran into problems because of nouveau and my nVidia graphic card.
I could not find help on the official k Ubuntu websites. I remembered the paragraph about Solving freezes during the boot sequence in the release notes use nomodeset at boot.
